In the middle of a whirlwind year, Big Money cracking open a bold new chapter and the caravan wheels of a global tour kicking up dust, Jon is hitting the brakes just long enough to play two nights back home at Jon Batiste’s Jazz Club on October 12 and October 13.
Jazz has always loved the left turn, and Jon leans right into it, moments that zig, zag, and catch fire, never the same twice.
Each night gets a little extra spark with supporting sets: Akia Knowles and DJ Nyuszi on October 12, and Dazzle Band with DJ Nyuszi on October 13.
Seun Kuti, the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, continues one of the most powerful legacies in modern music. As the leader of Egypt 80, the storied ensemble once fronted by his father, Seun has carried Afrobeat into a new era with unrelenting energy, searing horn lines, and lyrics that balance celebration with resistance.
Since stepping into the role in 1997, he has established himself as a commanding bandleader in his own right, releasing acclaimed projects including From Africa with Fury: Rise (produced with Brian Eno) and African Dreams (2022).
Few bands deliver a live experience as exhilarating as Grammy-winning Tank and the Bangas, and this October they bring that energy to Jon Batiste’s Jazz Club for two special nights, October 8 and October 10.
Fronted by the magnetic Tank, the band has been bending genres since their 2013 debut Think Tank, serving up a musical gumbo of quirky raps, spoken word, and colorful melodies. Their 2017 NPR Tiny Desk Contest win catapulted them onto the global stage, earning praise from Miguel, Anthony Hamilton, and millions of viewers who continue to revisit their now-iconic performance.
