Makers Air Announces New Scheduled Service to Arthur’s Town, Cat Island Beginning May 12, 2026

Fort Lauderdale, FL – April 28, 2026 – Makers Air, a premier provider of direct air service to the Out Islands of The Bahamas, is proud to announce the addition of its 12th scheduled destination: Arthur’s Town Airport (ATC) on Cat Island, with service set to begin May 12, 2026.

This new route will initially operate on a Tuesday and Thursday schedule, further expanding Makers Air’s presence in the Bahamas while improving access to one of the country’s most authentic and unspoiled islands.

The introduction of Arthur’s Town as a scheduled port of entry offers significant benefits for travelers, businesses, and homeowners located in the northern region of Cat Island, reducing ground transfer times while improving efficiency for both passenger travel and freight logistics.

“The commissioning of the new Arthur’s Town Airport reflects the Bahamas government’s commitment to the Renaissance of our Family Islands through the unprecedented development of over 19 airports across our archipelago and the resultant expansion of new airlift to traditionally underserved communities,” said The Honourable I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation.

“Cat Island has been an incredibly supportive partner as we’ve continued to expand our service offerings,” said David Hocher, President of Makers Air. “We are excited to build on that relationship with the launch of scheduled service into Arthur’s Town, creating new opportunities for both visitors and residents while strengthening connectivity to this special destination.”

“Maker’s Air has proven to be one of our most respected airline partners in driving stopover visitor arrivals to our Family Islands and thereby contributing sustainably to the economic growth and development of both our international and domestic tourism and aviation product,” said Dr. Kenneth Romer, Director of Aviation and Deputy Director General of Tourism.

Makers Air’s long-term vision for Cat Island includes servicing both Arthur’s Town (ATC) and New Bight Airport (TBI), ensuring consistent access across the island. During periods when New Bight Airport may be temporarily closed, operations will seamlessly transition to Arthur’s Town, maintaining uninterrupted service for passengers and freight.

As with all Makers Air scheduled flights, travelers can expect a premium experience, featuring private lounge departures at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE), attentive service, and a relaxed, hassle-free start to their journey to the Out Islands.

This expansion underscores Makers Air’s ongoing commitment to enhancing connectivity, supporting local communities, and delivering reliable, high-quality airlift service throughout The Bahamas.
