The Bahamas Strengthens Global Marine Tourism Partnerships at Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

High-Level Delegation Advances Strategic Industry Engagements Across Boating, Superyacht, Aviation and Charter Sectors

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (2 Nov. 2026) – The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism (BMOT) reinforced its commitment to the global boating and yachting industry through a series of high-level engagements at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS), one of the world's premier marine industry events.

The Ministry's participation focused on strengthening strategic partnerships, enhancing destination competitiveness and positioning The Bahamas for sustained growth across the recreational boating, luxury yachting, aviation and charter sectors.

A Bahamian delegation led by the Hon. Glenys Hanna Martin, Minister of Tourism; Parliamentary Secretary the Hon. Randy Rolle; BMOT Director General Jackson Weech; and senior executives from the Ministry's tourism, vertical markets and yachting teams met with industry leaders and representatives of key marine tourism organisations attending FLIBS. Discussions centred on deepening collaboration, responding to evolving market dynamics and identifying opportunities to support the continued growth and diversification of The Bahamas' marine tourism sector.

The Bahamas' presence at FLIBS also extended to the international superyacht community through its role as destination sponsor of the International Superyacht Society's 2026 Design & Leadership Awards Gala, held on October 28 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale. Under the theme "Beyond the Horizon," the gala celebrated the connections fostered by the global yachting community, highlighting how shared waterways unite destinations, cultures and expertise across international borders.

"The Bahamas has long been recognised as one of the world's premier boating and yachting destinations, and sustaining that position requires continuous engagement with the international organisations, operators and industry leaders shaping the future of marine tourism," said Minister Hanna Martin. "FLIBS provides an important platform to strengthen strategic partnerships, exchange market intelligence and identify opportunities that support innovation, investment and long-term growth. As a destination uniquely positioned at the crossroads of the Americas and the Caribbean, The Bahamas remains committed to working collaboratively with industry stakeholders to enhance visitor experiences, expand economic opportunities and reinforce our leadership within the global boating and yachting sector."

During FLIBS, the Ministry's programme included meetings with representatives of Informa Markets, the Association of Bahamas Marinas, the U.S. Superyacht Association and the U.S. Charter Association. The delegation also engaged aviation and flight services stakeholders, yacht manufacturers and international marine media, reflecting the broad network of industry relationships that influence travel to and throughout The Bahamas.

Minister Hanna Martin delivered the gala's closing remarks, representing The Bahamas at an event that underscored the international partnerships driving the future of the yachting industry. The evening concluded with a vibrant Junkanoo performance, showcasing Bahamian culture and providing guests with an authentic expression of the traditions, creativity and spirit that define the destination.

Addressing the factors shaping destination choice and long-term industry growth, Director General Weech said:

"The global boating and yachting industry continues to evolve, and destinations that succeed will be those that align their offerings with emerging traveller expectations while investing in access, infrastructure and service excellence. The Bahamas is exceptionally positioned to capitalise on growing demand for premium marine experiences, supported by our proximity to key markets, extensive cruising grounds and unparalleled island diversity. Our focus remains on strengthening competitiveness, encouraging greater exploration throughout the archipelago and maximising the economic impact of marine tourism across a broader range of communities. Through targeted partnerships and market-driven strategies, we are creating a stronger foundation for sustainable growth within this vital sector."

With more than 700 islands and cays, close proximity to South Florida and some of the world's most sought-after cruising grounds, The Bahamas offers an exceptional range of experiences for recreational boaters, sport fishing enthusiasts, charter guests and superyacht owners. From convenient cross-Gulf Stream access and world-class marina facilities to immersive island-hopping adventures, the destination provides unparalleled opportunities to explore the diverse character and natural beauty of the Bahamian archipelago.
