Nassau Named Top Family Destination in Air Canada Vacations' 2026 Travellers' Top Picks Awards

More than 1.3 million traveller votes recognise Nassau's appeal

for multigenerational family travel

NASSAU, The Bahamas (XX October 2026) – The Bahamas is celebrating another significant achievement in the Canadian market as Nassau has been named Top Family Destination in Air Canada Vacations' 2026 Travellers' Top Picks Awards, one of Canada's leading consumer-voted travel recognition programmes.

Nassau earned the distinction following a nationwide vote in Canada that drew more than 1.3 million votes across 10 travel categories. The Bahamas’ capital city was recognised for its diverse blend of family-friendly experiences, from world-renowned beaches and outdoor adventures to cultural immersion and premier resort offerings.

Visitors enjoy iconic attractions including Cabbage Beach, Cable Beach, Baha Bay Water Park, Aquaventure, and the vibrant culinary and cultural experiences found at Arawak Cay's Fish Fry. The destination’s ability to consistently deliver such exceptional family travel experiences is why it currently sits atop Canada’s premier family destination list.

“This recognition is particularly meaningful because it comes directly from travellers who have experienced Nassau and chosen to share their confidence in our destination,” said Jackson Weech, Director General. “Families today are seeking destinations where every generation can find something meaningful to experience. Nassau offers that through the warmth of our people, our rich culture, our natural beauty and the diversity of experiences that make our capital city distinctly Bahamian.”

The award comes amid continued growth from Canada, one of The Bahamas' strongest international source markets. From January through August 2026, The Bahamas welcomed 1,449,294 stopover visitors, representing a 4.3% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Canadian arrivals significantly outpaced overall growth, reaching 104,476 stopover visitors through August, an increase of 13.8% year over year and 5.8% above 2019 levels.

The recognition underscores the success of The Bahamas' strategic investments in air connectivity, destination promotion, and visitor experience enhancements across the Canadian market. It also reinforces Nassau's position as a premier Caribbean destination for families seeking a seamless combination of relaxation, adventure, entertainment, and authentic Bahamian culture.

As demand from Canadian travellers continues to grow, The Bahamas remains focused on strengthening its presence in the market while delivering exceptional experiences that inspire repeat visitation and long-term destination loyalty.
