LPIA Opens After Hurricane Joaquin

Update on all Bahamas airport closures by the Department of Civil Aviation

The Department of Civil Aviation wishes to advise the public that the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) is open and operating this morning, Saturday October 3rd, 2015. Airport Security and US Customs and Immigration opened at 5:00 a.m.

Air Traffic Control services resumed operations at 7:00 a.m. 

Grand Bahama International Airport remained opening throughout the storm.

Exuma Airport also opened this morning. 

All other airports throughout the Commonwealth of The Bahamas will remain closed until Department staff have inspected those airports and confirmed that the runways are safe for operation.

The public will be advised on other airport openings as soon as information on them is available.
