Stout Helps Lipscomb to First-Round Lead at White Sands Bahamas NCAA Women's Golf Invitational

October 21, 2022 (Paradise Island, Bahamas)  Siarra Stout had four birdies on her way to the low score of 3-under-par 69 and Lauren Thompson added a 2-under-par 70 to give Lipscomb the first-round lead at the White Sands Bahamas NCAA Women’s Golf Invitational at the Ocean Club Golf Course. The Bisons, which had three individuals in the top 10, posted a team score of three over 291, two strokes better than second place Central Arkansas heading into the weekend.

Central Arkansas was paced by Tania Nunez, who made six birdies and five bogeys for a 1-under 71 over the 6,415-yard layout designed by Tom Weiskopf that yielded only three scores under par for the day.  Two other players finished at even par, including Victoria Cook, who led third place UNCG with a five-count-four total of 301 (+13).

“I had a smooth and steady round today,” said Stout, a long-hitting senior who capped her round with back-to-back birdies on holes 16 and 17. “I was able to keep my composure and just enjoy where I’m at. This is my first time in the Bahamas. I thought it would be amazing, but it has even exceeded that. I am just soaking it up.”

Memphis sits in fourth, with a team total of 303 (+15), followed by Arkansas State (+16, 304), Little Rock (+21, 309), South Dakota State and Florida Gulf Coast (each at +25, 313)

Viewed as one of the top collegiate challenges, this NCAA Invitational is among a handful of premier events held at the Ocean Club Golf Course. Most recently, the resort course hosted the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic.
