TRAVEL COORDINATOR, TRAVEL MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT

 

What’s the Opportunity? 

The Travel Coordinator will be responsible for executing travel arrangements for persons travelling on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation.  The Travel Coordinator will maintain positive relationships with employees, travel agencies and vendors.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate travel itineraries and facilitate ticketing for persons travelling.
  • Process cash advances to cover travel expenses (i.e. per diem, accommodation, transportation, incidentals, etc.)
  • Research travel deals and evaluate prices and services.
  • Arrange hotels, car rentals, etc. for staff including executives, where necessary.
  • Assist with the negotiation of contracts/rates with travel service providers.
  • Assist with the driving of continuous improvement relative to the travel department
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies or policy violations by communicating with employees and supervisors.
  • Monitor travel trends and report potential issues or areas for policy improvement to management.
  • Accurately enter and maintain travel and cash advance data in the company’s travel management system.
  • Assist in the preparation of department’s monthly travel summaries and reports for departmental for submission to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

What You Will Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant area with a minimum of seven (7) years experience.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and internal control procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Computer skills – Microsoft office applications, Sabre Airline applications, email, etc.

  • Communication Skills: Oral, Written, and Interviewing skills.
  • Collaborative leadership skills – working with various stakeholders to seamlessly carry out the functions.
  • Data analysis skills – the ability to collect, gather, and analyze data and present concise actionable results is a noteworthy skill.
  • Organizational skills – dealing with itineraries, schedules, reports require strong planning and problem-solving skills.
