The Boys Are Back In Town: Babe Ruth Regional Championships Return To The Baillou Hills Softball Complex In July
NASSAU, Bahamas (May 17, 2023)—The 2023 Babe Ruth Baseball Caribbean Region 12-and-Under (12U) Championship and 16-and-Under (16U) Invitational is set to take place on July 20-24, 2023. This year, the tournament action will take place at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex and the new Andre Rodgers National Baseball Stadium.
The 2023 Caribbean Region Championships will feature teams from Anguilla, Curacao, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Netherlands, Germany, Saba, St. Eustatius, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Jamaica and of course, The Bahamas. Spectators will also gather to view teams in the 16U category from the United States (South USA and USA Metro), and as far away as China.
Leading the charge for youth Baseball in The Bahamas and the Caribbean, is The Commissioner for Babe Ruth Baseball, Greg Burrows Sr. Burrows, who was given the responsibility of revamping the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex for last year's competition is also responsible for bringing the five-day regional classic to The Bahamas.
"We are extremely pleased to have been chosen again as the destination for the Babe Ruth Baseball Caribbean Region Tournament & Invitational, and we are even more excited and proud that the tournament and invitational are now an annual event for The Bahamas. It means that the Babe Ruth Organization was impressed with our execution of the games in 2022 and more importantly with the representation of our country as a whole", stated Mr. Burrows. "The Government of The Bahamas is throwing its full support behind the now annual, regional tournament."
Expressing its pleasure and pride at being given the prestiguous title of Annual Host Country, The Bahamas will showcase a grand, cultural opening ceremony at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium on July 20, 2023, to welcome our international guests. The tournament itself will see five days of action, packages are priced at $65 for adults and $20 for children for the five days. Single-day tickets can be obtained for $15 for adults and $5 for children.
The winner of the 12U Caribbean region championship will advance to the Cal Ripken Major70 World Series at Ballparks of America in Branson, Missouri, August 3-12, 2023. The Bahamas' team isi looking forward to again advancing to World Series but this year, they hope to come home with the winning title and trophy!
