The Bahamas strengthens connectivity strategy during Routes Americas 2026

The delegation from The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation participated in one of the aviation industry’s leading forums and highlights in Brazil as a priority market in Latin America; The Bahamas also confirmed presence at WTM Latin America next month

NASSAU, Bahamas (23 March 2026) - The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation (BMOTIA) participated in Routes Americas 2026, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 3 to 5 March, reinforcing efforts to strengthen international air connectivity and expand aviation partnerships across key markets.

Routes Americas, one of the aviation industry’s leading annual route development forums, brought together airlines, airports, tourism organisations and destinations to discuss network planning and new connectivity opportunities across the Americas.

Representatives from the Ministry included Valery Brown-Alce, Deputy Director General of Tourism, Investments & Aviation; Krishna Rolle, General Manager of Airlift; Joel Sweeting, Analyst; and Victor Manjarres, CEO of TM Americas.

Also in attendance were industry partners including: Kerry Fountain, Executive Director, Bahamas Out Islands Promotion Board; Joy Jibrilu, Chief Executive Officer, Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board; Giovanni Grant, Director of Airlift, Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board; Vernice Walkine, Chief Executive Officer, Nassau Airport Development Company; and Jan Knowles, Vice President of Marketing and Commercial Development, Nassau Airport Development Company.

During the forum, the delegation held a series of strategic meetings with airline executives, airport authorities and aviation partners to explore opportunities for new routes, expanded connectivity and increased access from priority markets across the Americas.

Brazil remains an important market within The Bahamas’ broader international growth strategy. Engagement in the aviation and travel trade forum strengthened relationships with airline partners and supported efforts to expand airlift across Latin America.

The Bahamas has also confirmed participation in WTM Latin America, the region’s leading travel trade exhibition, scheduled for next month in São Paulo, Brazil.

In 2025, The Bahamas welcomed a record 12.5 million visitors, marking the highest visitor total in the country’s history.

With 16 island destinations, each offering unique experiences, The Bahamas continues to invest in initiatives that improve international access through airline partnerships and regional aviation hubs.

Engagement in industry forums such as Routes Americas, along with upcoming participation in WTM Latin America, supports The Bahamas’ ongoing efforts to strengthen international partnerships and expand air connectivity across key global markets.
