Spring Point Red Cross Fair

All of the communities in Acklins gather for a family fun day of games, rides and live music. Local foods and drinks will be for sale. Proceeds from raffle ticket tickets will support the Red Cross. The fair is held every year on The Bahamas Labour Day holiday, beginning at 12:00 noon.

Crooked Island Homecoming Festival

Descendants, residents, and visitors come together at this annual event in a fun social atmosphere. Activities include a church service, entertainment by Bahamian artists, Old Gospel Concert, beauty pageants, a fashion show, Mr. Homecoming, basketball and volleyball tournaments. Games include Easter Egg Hunt, egg-in-the spoon race, dominoes, apple on a string, Hula-Hoop, conch cracking, balancing food/field basket on head for the elderly ladies. Bahamian food, drinks and pastries will be on sale. This event is held every year on Easter weekend.

Stella Maris New Years Eve Formal Dinner Party

This is the party of the year on Long Island and it is a great way to bring in the New Year! It is open to hotel guests and the general public and the resort goes all out for the many guests that usually attend. A large, scrumptious buffet-style dinner is provided, along with a number of pastries for dessert. There is live entertainment by a local band, plus there are prizes, limbo-dancing and fireworks. Reservations are required, due to limited seating, and dress is formal.

Cat Island Rake And Scrape Festival

This annual musical festival, held every year during the Bahamas Labour Day weekend, is the signature event for Cat Island. It showcases the sensuous, rhythmic vibe of the island's premier Rake and Scrape music, performed by local and national artists. It also features a Gospel concert, Battle of the Rake & Scrape Bands, quadrille dancing, a children's corner with games and a fishermen and farmers' market. During the festival, guests can partake of "Down Home" Cat Island cuisine, purchase locally made crafts such as jewelry and straw items.

Discovery Day Homecoming Festival

This festival encourages San Salvadorians worldwide to come home and celebrate Discovery Day, which commemorates the first landfall of the great navigator Christopher Columbus, on October 12, 1492. He renamed the Island of Guanahani to San Salvador meaning "Holy Saviour." The activities include Bahamian food and drink for sale, cultural performances, gospel concerts, plus live entertainment by local and visiting artists.
