BAHAMIAN MUSIC & HERITAGE FESTIVAL 2024: A CULTURAL EXTRAVAGANZA ON EXUMA ISLAND

NASSAU, Bahamas, 15 March 2024 - The 18th edition of the annual Bahamian Music & Heritage Festival is set for 15 - 16 March 2024, at the Regatta Site in George Town, Exuma.

Hon. I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation in expressing his enthusiasm, said, "As Bahamians, we are truly appreciative of what we have as a people, and this festival helps us to celebrate our rich and vibrant culture”.

This cultural extravaganza which showcases and promotes our cultural heritage is a family-friendly event and promises to create an atmosphere of joy and togetherness. Apart from music and arts, the event provides engaging activities for little ones including enchanting storytelling sessions, lively singing, imaginative face painting and entertaining cultural games.

Moreover, festivalgoers of all ages will be able to indulge in a wide variety of Bahamian culinary delights at "Da Festival Kitchen" and participate in various educational sessions, including straw plaiting, traditional Bahamian bread making and bush tea brewing. Attendees can opt to participate in demos such as the Yuma Arts Craft Centre demos and culinary and mixology competitions. There will also be popular cultural games such as hopscotch, jump rope, sack racing, nursery rhymes and songs and storytelling.

The signature event will feature a two-day concert with emcees Das Quay and DJ Code Red, as well as performances by top Bahamian artists including Exuma Rake 'n' Scrape Band, Tempo Band, Fire Dancer Shantee Dorsett - Goddess of Fire, Rhythm Band, Dimitri, Qpid, Ebony, Blaudy and Geno D.
