New Year's Day Junkanoo Parade: Nassau & Paradise Island

Junkanoo, the National Festival of The Bahamas, is an expression of Bahamian art and culture. Large groups parade with elaborate costumes, dancing or playing goatskin drums, horns, bells, or whistles, as thousands watch and dance along.

This community-based Junkanoo parade blends the traditional music and dance of Junkanoo with local variants, making for unique entertainment. Hundreds of residents and visitors alike gather for this annual reunion.
A five(5) mile Fun Run/Walk will be held starting at the cork tree in James Cistern to the Governor's Harbour International Airport runway and back. Proceeds will go towards community initiatives, including life-saving medical equipment for local clinics, repairs and upgrades to local clinics, a
