Several Family Island Airports re-open after Hurricane Matthew leaves The Bahamas

The Department of Civil Aviation in conjunction with the Airport Authority of The Bahamas, and following consultation with the Department of Meteorology, advises that inspections have been carried out on the following family island airports which have been deemed safe for operation and have now been re-opened, effective the 7th October 2016:
Exuma International
Andros Town
San Andros
New Bight, Cat Island
Arthur's Town, Cat Island
San Salvador
Mayaguana
Inagua
Acklins
Rock Sound, Eleuthera
Governor's Harbour, Eleuthera
North Eleuthera
Crooked Island
Stellar Maris, Long Island
Deadman's Cay, Long Island
The National Airport Development Company (NAD) has also announced that the Lynden Pindling International Airport will open on Saturday, October 8. The travelling public is encouraged to contact their respectve airlines.
The public is also encouraged to remain vigilant for additional information on airport re-openings.
