Golfers Profess Their Love for The Bahamas

Great Abaco, Bahamas: With the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic a mere memory, top golfers praised Abaco for the incredible experience that it offers, year after year.

Many of the golfers participated in The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic last week, and wasted no time flying directly to the Great Abaco Classic to compete, yet again.

Pro golfer Wyndham Clarke, a native of Las Vegas, Nevada who led the competition in the second round, said the one thing that stands out is the blue waters.

“Playing here is very similar, especially this place here in Abaco. It’s really nice and there’s a lot of great courses similar to this but what makes it different from the US, is the view – the waters. So blue and it’s amazing, so it’s definitely an awesome treat to be here and a good experience. The people have always been so nice down here and I also love the beauty of the water and the snorkelling is great,” Clarke said.

Jin Park, a native of South Korea living in Arizona said the experience in The Bahamas is incredible.

“This place is amazing; the whole Bahamas experience is awesome. People have been really friendly. In Abaco, the food has been good, especially at the Abaco Club and the staff are really friendly. I would love to bring my family here if I come back next year. With the blue waters, nice weather, good food, what more can you ask for,” Park said.

Park played in Exuma the week before and said it was great.

“We were in Exuma last week, had some conch salad, peas and rice and tried some local flavours. It was really good, I liked it.”

Sebastian Cappelen, a Danish professional golfer living in Florida, said it’s a pleasure coming to Abaco.

“It’s always an adventure coming here. It’s so nice and people are just relaxed and everyone wants to have a good time and luckily, the weather is better this year. Last year was really windy but the weather is usually nice here and that's why we want to come here and see the blue sea. I love the privateness, the places I've been it's been really private and not too touristy and too big. This place is private but still offers really high-quality beaches and incredible waters,” he said.

The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic began Jan. 21, 2018 and ran until Jan. 24, 2018. Adam Svensson of Surrey, Canada was declared the winner.

The Classic featured 132 golfers from across the world and took place on the Donald Steel and Tom Mackenzie designed golf course at the Abaco Club.
