77th ANNUAL CONVENTION OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MINISTERS’ WIVES AND MINISTERS’ WIDOWS INC.

On Thursday, June 1st, the Ministry of Tourism's Religious Tourism Department, along with representatives from the International Association of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows Inc., held a press conference to inform the public of the 77th Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows annual convention set to be held on Grand Bahama Island.

The convention, which will take place June 17th- 23rd at the Grand Lucayan Hotel, will be dedicated to fostering an environment of teaching, fellowship, and spiritual enrichment. 

Elder Vernita Josey, Vice President at large for the international body and Convention Chairperson, said that "This is going to be an exciting time because it's a time where we come together as leading women in our churches to assist our husbands in Ministry. We're here and nobody can help us like another Minister’s wife".

Josey also extended an invitation to all Ministers' wives, Ministers’ widows, and their spouses throughout the nation of The Bahamas to attend this year’s conference which will be held on Grand Bahama Island for the very first time since its inception.

According to Josey, the conference, which was originally scheduled to be in Nassau, New Providence, was shifted to Grand Bahama Island due to an act of God. 

Debbie Huyler, Manager, Religious Tourism, said that "As Grand Bahama Island continues to be the hub for faith- based travel, international religious tourism initiatives, and conferences, the Ministry of Tourism's Religious Tourism Department here in Grand Bahama is pleased to partner with the International Association of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows in holding their 77th annual convention here at the Grand Lucayan Hotel".

With anticipation of over 400 delegates from the United States, Canada, New Providence, and the Caribbean in attendance, visitors can look forward to enjoying the amenities of the hotels as well everything that the island has to offer. 

As this will be the first time that the conference will be held on Grand Bahama Island, Huyler also noted that she "Looks forward to the success of the event and is optimistic of a continued working relationship with the International Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers' Widows in future endeavors".

Rev. Dr. Sherry Collie, National President, Bahamas Association of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows, and Co- Chair of the Convention, said that "We are so delighted to have persons come from various countries to visit our shores...We are looking forward to a good contingent of persons being a part of the convention".

With a number of activities planned for the week, delegates can expect a full schedule throughout the duration of the conference.
