The Ultimate Summer Camp Heads To Grand Bahama Island
“Kids Sea Camp” Features Diving, Snorkeling, Treasure Hunt and More for the Entire Family
GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND (Aug 15-22 2009) – The ocean is emerging as the newest campground, making the traditional summer camp in the forest yesterday’s news. Grand Bahama Island, in partnership with Kids Sea Camp , Pelican Bay at Lucaya Hotel and the International Underwater Explorers Society (UNEXSO), a renown dolphin and PADI 5 Star Gold Palm IDC dive center, will host the island’s second “Kids Sea Camp Grand Bahama” – one of the few summer camps to include parents in the adventure.
Scheduled for Aug. 15-22, 2009, and designed for divers and non-divers alike, “Kids Sea Camp Grand Bahama” will introduce kids to the sport of diving and give adventure-seeking parents an escape from the conventional umbrella-on-the-beach vacation. Everyday, kids will make new friends, build confidence, overcome fears and learn about the vast underwater world, while parents enjoy diving, dolphin, eco and cultural tours. Parents who prefer land over sea can enjoy Grand Bahama’s white sandy beaches, championship golf courses and shopping at Port Lucaya Marketplace. Families will come together for evening activities, entertainment and daytrips.
Highlights of “Kids Sea Camp Grand Bahama” include:
- Seven-nights accommodation at Pelican Bay at Lucaya Hotel in a tropically decorated suite with harbor views
and fresh pastries delivered each morning
- Daily ocean dives, dolphin activities and educational programs, and snorkeling throughout the week
- Five days of AquaMissions, an underwater pool adventure where kids learn to dive
- Teen and pre-teen open water dive certification course
- Treasure hunt with prizes for kids
- Dinner and bonfire night on the beach
- Junkanoo celebration
- Family Day dive and beach day
- Night dive or night on the town for adults
- One sunset dinner cruise
The prestigious Kids Sea Camp organization is a PADI diving society event, with Grand Bahama Island as their most recent addition to the long list of locations it is held annually. In addition to water activities, families can participate in the many land activities that Grand Bahama offers, including a kayak tour and nature walk to learn about native plant life and “bush medicine” at Lucayan National Park or a visit to see how locals “crack conch.”
“Kids Sea Camp Grand Bahama” welcomes participants ages 4 and up, and kids will be divided into groups based on age and ability. Rates are per person for the week, based on age, and include: accommodations, breakfast, lunch and dinner daily; scheduled activities; airport transfers, service; and diving equipment for kids. Rates start at $799 for children; $1,899 for dive-certified parents; and $1,599 for parents who are non-divers.
