The Islands Of The Bahamas Host International Premiere of Tyler Perry’s New Film “Why Did I Get Married Too?”
NASSAU, Bahamas, April 1, 2010 — On March 29, U.S. media descended on Nassau to cover the international premiere of director/producer Tyler Perry’s new film “Why Did I Get Married Too?,” which was filmed in The Islands Of The Bahamas and hits U.S. theatres on April 2.
U.S. journalists represented such media outlets as Ebony, Jet, Rolling Out, Sister 2 Sister, Deco Drive, “The Tom Joyner Morning Show,” and Blackvoices.com.
While in the Bahamas, journalists visited the picturesque Island of Eleuthera, where much of the movie was filmed at the oceanfront villa, Lush Life. The day-long tour of Eleuthera was followed by a press conference at Ristorante Luciano’s of Chicago in Nassau with director/producer Tyler Perry; Sen. The Honourable Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace, Minister of Tourism and Aviation; Vernice Walkine, Director General, Ministry of Tourism and Aviation; Deborah Bartlett, CEO of GEMS FM 105.9 FM; and Bishop Neil Ellis of Neil C. Ellis Ministries, who was instrumental in securing the first international film premiere held in the Bahamas since “Buck and the Preacher” in 1972.
The red-carpet premiere was held at the Atlantis Theater at the Atlantis, Paradise Island. Cast members in attendance included Tyler Perry, Sharon Leal and Michael Jai White. Other celebrities and dignitaries on-hand included NBA great Earvin “Magic” Johnson; David and Tamela Mann from the TBS series “Meet The Browns;” Jawn Murray from “The Tom Joyner Morning Show”; and Her Excellency Nicole Avant, U.S. Ambassador to the Bahamas. Proceeds from the star-studded screening benefited Sister to Sister, a Bahamian charity that provides support services to breast cancer survivors.
