Treasure Island by Bret Love
This article is a result of a visiting journalist trip taken by Bret Love and his 6-year-old daughter Alexandra in July 2007 and appeared in the September/October issue of Skylights (c. 40,000), the in-flight magazine for Spirit Airlines. The three-page spread, entitled “For Tourists Seeking Adventures, The Bahamas are as Good as Gold,” features highlights of Bret and Alexandra’s jam-packed itinerary, including snorkeling with Stuart Cove’s, touring the Pirates of Nassau Museum and the Ardastra Gardens, spending a day in Harbour Island and Alex’s personal favorite – interacting with dolphins at Dolphin Encounters.
Bret’s coverage of the experience hit the highlights, focusing the history of The Bahamas, various cultural excursions and recommendations on great places to eat. As described by Bret, “nowadays the greatest treasure The Bahamas has to offer the invading hordes of tourists is its bevy of natural wonders, including pristine white-and-pink sand beaches, crystalline waters said to be the clearest in the world, abundant aquatic life, impossibly blue skies and sunny days so picture perfect they could’ve been painted by one of the great masters of the Renaissance. The truth is, this former pirate’s paradise is so beautiful that you could do nothing but stretch out on the beach with a sweet tropical libation and still have the vacation of a lifetime.”
