Alvin & The Chipmunks 3 films in Nassau
Fox Studios, Inc. is presently in Nassau with their location scout and marine coordinator to shoot scenes for Alvin & The Chipmunks 3, at locations in and around Nassau. The project brings the Chipmunks to an exotic tropical location, where they embark on new and wonderful experiences soaking up the sun,sand and sea. The Bahamas Film and Television Commission is excited about this project as it demonstrates the range of film work that can be done in the Bahamas, and continue the promotion of The Bahamas as a film location destination.

Representatives of the Bahamas Film and Television Commission recently attended the Third Annual Urban-Suburban Film Festival in Philadelphia, America. The Commission’s attendance at USFF was well received by local filmmakers who were impressed with the variety of locations and depth of The Bahamas. Staff of the Bahamas Film and Television Commission recently embarked on another mission to secure film and television productions for the Bahamas, attending the 2011 Produced By Market and Conference (PBC) on Los Angeles.
PBC, held in conjunction with the Producers Guild of America ( PGA) and the Association of Film Commissioners International ( AFCI), was hosted by Walt Disney Studios and the ABC Entertainment Group at Buena Vista’s Lot A. Continue Reading
FLIFF On-Location: Grand Bahama Island
As a part of their ongoing efforts in film development, the Ministry of Tourism & Aviation, in conjunction with the Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF), and the Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board, will debut “FLIFF On-Location: Grand Bahama Island” later this year.
FLIFF, now in its 26th year, will take place October 21 – November 11, 2011. However, for the first time, the festival will feature an offshore component, “FLIFF On-Location,” on Grand Bahama Island, October 27 – 30, 2011. Continue Reading

Bahamian filmmakers take Fresh film to San Antonio
The Bahamian short movie, Fresh, is set to screen at the world’s largest Christian film festival in October.
Fresh, the short movie that was filmed entirely in Nassau in 2009 with an all-Bahamian cast, was accepted as a semifinalist at the 2010 San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival (SAICFF). The festival, scheduled for October 28 – 30 in San Antonio, Texas, is known for offering the largest single cash prize on the US festival circuit. The film that is chosen as “Best of Festival” will be awarded a $101,000 cash prize. Continue Reading

Rain DVD floods US retailers
The Bahamas continues to get greater international exposure from the Bahamian-produced film, Rain, which has secured distribution with major United States retailers, including Walmart and Target.
Maria Govan, the movie’s director, recently presented Tourism Director General Vernice Walkine with a copy of the DVD. Ms. Govan also updated Ms. Walkine on the DVD sales, which are on a robust trend.
“We’re in 740 Walmarts, almost 300 Targets,” said Ms. Govan. “It’s at Blockbuster. It’s on Netflix. It’s in a lot of boutique little stores. It’s really everywhere.” Continue Reading

The motion picture “Killers” will have its theatrical release Friday,June 4th, 2010. The trailer has been running in theatres in the US and The Bahamas for the past 10 days. Killers, aka 5-Killers was shot on location in Atlanta, South of France and Nassau, Bahamas in 2009. The Bahamas location is an action scene in waters at the back of the Nassau Sheraton Cable Beach Hotel. As part of the Film and Television Commission’s outreach to Bahamian filmmakers abroad, we try to promote their work where possible. Kendrick Andrews is a third year film student at The Art Institute of Georgia. He has worked as an intern or volunteer on such projects as WBEC-TV Public Television Ft. Lauderdale, Georgia Production Partnerships, Health Prevention Institute, New York City, Zamar Group and Media Enterprises, Nassau and many others. Kendrick is presently competing in Campus Movie Festival, the world’s largest student film festival which screens almost 1500 student films.
