Data: Copa flights filled
Copa Airlines posted better load factors on its flights into Nassau than any other airline in June and July, recently compiled data shows.
Data from the Ministry of Tourism & Aviation confirmed that Copa Airlines flights were 95 percent full in June and 86 percent full in July. The load factors were the best for flights landing in Nassau. The average load factor of all flights to Nassau was 72.3% in June and 77.6% in July. Continue Reading

New Jetblue route to bring additional airlift
Additional airlift from the New York area is on its way to The Bahamas, as JetBlue Airlines is launching a new route from Westchester County Airport, creating around 50 more room nights daily, according to a tourism executive.
Director General of the Ministry of Tourism David Johnson told Guardian Business yesterday that the new JetBlue flight — beginning on November 15 pending government approval — will provide a large boost to arrivals by air. Copa Airlines ushered in a new era for The Islands of The Bahamas on Wednesday, as their inaugural flight to Nassau opened the country to convenient travel from Central and South America, Minister of Tourism & Aviation Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace said.
As he welcomed Copa to Nassau, Minister Vanderpool-Wallace pointed out that The Bahamas has always looked to North America as the primary source of tourism business. However, he said, it is now practical to look to Latin America for more business as Copa’s air network connects the Bahamas to more than 50 cities in South and Central America. The airline will operate a nonstop flight to Nassau from Panama City every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Continue Reading

Low-Cost Carrier Fills Laker Airways’ Void
Vision Airlines will reconnect Grand Bahama Island with direct air service to at least five (5) US cities beginning in November, the Grand Bahama Tourist Office announced today.
Beginning November 11, 2011, Vision Airlines will provide non-stop jet service to Grand Bahama Island from a number of US cities, including Richmond, Virginia; Louisville, Kentucky; Greensboro, North Carolina, Baltimore, Maryland and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Using a 136 seat Boeing 737-300 aircraft, Vison Airlines will add some 100,000 available seats annually to Grand Bahama Island in its first phase of operations. Continue Reading
