JAZZ at Briland with Duke Ellington
Harbour Island came alive on Friday, June 12th with the smooth sounds of jazz emanating from under the famous fig tree. Briefly delayed because of inclement weather, the music festival featured 30 students from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts.
The school, located in Washington, DC, was founded in 1975 to nurture and inspire passion for arts and learning in talented students; preparing them for post-secondary education and careers in the arts by offering an intensive arts based program. It is the only DC public high school providing such training.
The apprentices arrived on the Bohengy to provide a generous menu of melodies that demonstrate the superior artistic skills for which students of this prestigious school are famous.
Jazz under cerulean skies and swaying trees in Harbour Island. An experience that will not soon be forgotten.
