Film Week New York
The Bahamas Film and Television Commission in association with Film Florida participated in Film Week in New York City September 20-24 as part of the Independent Film Producers Show. IFP offers through its seminars, workshops, conferences labs and mentorship programs a forum to assist and develop new talent within the film industry; with a network of over ten thousand, ( 10,000) filmmakers from around the world. Apart from working the booth the Bahamas and Florida delegates had the occasion to screen a few documentaries and feature films, in addition to participation in seminars such as:
“A Conversation with Sheila Nevins” a Television Executive and President of Documentaries for HBO., sharing her views on the Film Industry. “Outreach and Audience Building” This was done by a panel of Filmmakers. They really reiterated the usefulness of networking and determination, and “A Conversation with John Sloss” a famous entertainment lawyer and producer who has numerous credits to his name sharing his thoughts on the present state of the Film Industry, “Big Ideas For The Small Screen.” Film Florida is a trade association that represents Florida’s film industry. It is composed of Associations, Film Commissions, Industry and Labor. The Bahamas Film and Television Commission is the only country which has been voted in associate memberships status in the organization. The Bahamas and Florida on many occasions have partnered on film shoots, marketing and promotional opportunities.
