Bimini Bay now a Small Luxury Hotel

Bimini Bay’s recent inclusion as a Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) of the World has had more than the obvious branding effects, with its recent addition contributing to a 10 percent boost in bookings over the same year ago period.
“We’ve already received a handful of bookings and we just became a SLH property weeks ago and I’m sure we’re going to get a lot more,” hotel spokeswoman Allison Robins told Guardian Business. “Bookings have been up 10 percent this year so far when compared to the same time last year.

“[It] is only the beginning of a positive outlook and an increase in occupancy for 2009.”

That’s an outlook based on the extensive reach of the SLH membership, with 480 properties all over the world and an online component that circulates well into the thousands.

Bimini Bay is planning to leverage that branding — one its executives point out as the only such hotel presently in The Bahamas — to attract that narrowing number of persons still with the ability to travel.

“I think people still have the money to spend and they want to get more bang for their buck,” Robins said. “They want to find places where they want to get more out of their vacation.”

She indicated increases in rendezvous, weddings and group bookings for the first quarter of 2009.
