Bahamian filmmakers take Fresh film to San Antonio

The Bahamian short movie, Fresh, is set to screen at the world’s largest Christian film festival in October.

Fresh, the short movie that was filmed entirely in Nassau in 2009 with an all-Bahamian cast, was accepted as a semifinalist at the 2010 San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival (SAICFF). The festival, scheduled for October 28 – 30 in San Antonio, Texas, is known for offering the largest single cash prize on the US festival circuit. The film that is chosen as “Best of Festival” will be awarded a $101,000 cash prize.

From 250 entries. Fresh was chosen as one of only 52 short and feature films that will be screened at the festival. Another seven commercials of 60 seconds or shorter will also be screened.

“It is exciting to have our film recognized for its message and production quality,” said Clarence Rolle, director and writer of Fresh. “The selection demonstrates again that The Bahamas has the talent and expertise that can stand with others from around the world.”

Other notable films that have played at the festival include actor Kirk Cameron’s Fireproof and the short movie, No Greater Love.

Mr. Rolle is pictured presenting a DVD copy of the film to Bahamas Film Commissioner, Craig Woods.
