Bahamian film gets limited international release

Just a week before the Seventh Annual Bahamas International Film Festival, Bahamian film director Kareem Mortimer has secured a limited theatrical release for his acclaimed film, Children of God.

Mr. Mortimer’s US and UK distributors announced that the film’s 2011 limited release will be coupled with a DVD release. To date, the film has been screened in over 70 international film festivals since its premiere eight months ago. In addition, Children of God has garnered 13 awards and enjoyed a successful tour across the UK.

The film will be available commercially in the United States, Ireland, Canada, France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands by March of 2011.

“This is a huge achievement for a Bahamian film and Kareem will continue to bring other countries to the table with assistance of his sales agents as he regards his investors as main priority,” said Craig Woods, Bahamas Film Commissioner. “While many films never get to see the light of day outside of small screenings, Kareem has done well to have a commercial product that he has worked tirelessly on to bring returns to his investors over the next few years.”
