Bahamas tourism research makes highlights

Three of the Bahamas’ academic standouts will get a spotlight on the international stage beginning this month for their tourism research.

A research paper from the three professionals of International Management Centers Association – Shamine Johnson, Carmel Churchill and Raylene Gardiner – was accepted by the Paper Review Committee of the Second Annual International Tourism Conference. The conference is organized by The University of The West Indies in collaboration with the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality & Tourism Management and Ryerson University, Canada along with the London Metropolitan University, UK.

The researchers’ paper, Impact & Linkages of the Grand Bahama Rush for Peace Parade & Celebration, supports the individual branding of the Bahamas’ major islands in the context of festivals. They will present the paper in Trinidad at the conference, which takes place January 18 – 21 under the theme, “Tourism, Culture, and the Creative Industries: Exploring the Linkages.

The Grand Bahama residents will have their paper considered to be placed in the London Journal of Tourism, Sport and the Creative Industries, a peer-reviewed journal of the London Metropolitan University. A selection of the conference papers will also be considered for publication in a special issue of International Journal of Tourism, Culture and Communication.
