Staff of the Bahamas Film and Television Commission recently embarked on another mission to secure film and television productions for the Bahamas, attending the 2011 Produced By Market and Conference (PBC) on Los Angeles.
PBC, held in conjunction with the Producers Guild of America ( PGA) and the Association of Film Commissioners International ( AFCI), was hosted by Walt Disney Studios and the ABC Entertainment Group at Buena Vista’s Lot A.
For more than 85 years, Bahamas Film Commissioner Craig Woods pointed out, the Walt Disney Studios have been the foundation on which the Walt Disney Company was built, producing high quality movies, music and stage plays. Meanwhile, the Producers Guild of America is the only organization in the entertainment industry that brings together the leading creators of film, television and new media.
“We made very good contacts with some of Hollywood’s top producers for future film and television projects,” Mr. Woods said.
AFCI is comprised of members from more than 45 countries on six continents. The AFCI represents trained, experienced and professional film commissioners and their offices and staff from all around the world.
While on their mission, Mr. Woods and Eureka Glinton, manager of the Bahamas Film Commission in Los Angeles, met with Bahamians in the entertainment business as well.
