Representatives of the Bahamas Film and Television Commission recently attended the Third Annual Urban-Suburban Film Festival in Philadelphia, America. The Commission’s attendance at USFF was well received by local filmmakers who were impressed with the variety of locations and depth of The Bahamas. Part of the Commission’s mandate is to encourage more independent filmmakers to shoot their films in The Bahamas.
This year, the festival welcomed its new partners, US Virgin Film Commission and Cruzan Rum, which sponsored the opening reception at the African-American Museum. The evening showcased a number of films from USVI, which were introduced by their local actress Cathy SitaRam. Founded by businessman, George Clifford Blackmon and his business partner, Andrew Harmon, USFF seeks to bring about community growth and development through filmmaking outreach programs.
