Atlanta students on week-long mission in Bahamas
Atlanta students will learn more about protecting the natural environment while on a week-long excursion to The Bahamas – the country with the clearest waters on Earth.
Ten students from Atlanta will travel to Nassau on July 16 to take part in the 2011 Frank Ski Kid’s Foundation Planet Green Marine Biology Science Excursion. The ten finalists were chosen after competing in the foundation’s essay competition entitled “Massive Oil Spills, Nuclear Contamination, Pollution, Over Fishing & Climate Change are killing Our Oceans. What are the long term effects on humanity if our Oceans are not protected?”
Frank Ski is a leading radio personality in Atlanta. He is the host of the Frank and Wanda Morning Show with Wanda Smith, and he is devoted to protecting the environment. Every year, the Frank Ski Kid’s Foundation hosts an excursion outside of the United States to expose students to different eco-environments.
The mission of this Atlanta-based non-profit foundation is to expose children to their future through science, technology, athletics, and arts.
As a part of their one-week trip to The Bahamas, the students will take a scuba diving certification course at Stuart Cove’s, a one day expedition to The Island School in Eleuthera and a trip to Blue Lagoon Island. While in The Bahamas, the foundation will be assisted by the Ministry of Tourism, Breezes Resort, Mt. Tabor Full Gospel Baptist Church, The Island School, SkyBahamas Airlines and Cacique Award winner Stuart Cove’s Dive Bahamas.
