This sailing regatta is the second largest in The Bahamas, next to the National Family Island Regatta held in The Exumas, and it is the major fund-raiser on the island. Skippers from throughout The Bahamas competes for cash prizes and trophies in A, B and C class races. Some of the sailing sloops that take part in the regatta are built right on the island in the settlement of Mangrove Bush. There is also lots to eat and drink, including tasty native mutton dishes, plus a kids' corner, games for the entire family, and performances by local bands. The regatta takes place during the Labor Day holiday weekend in June.
